OVHcloud deploys first 3-AZ region in Germany

“ Our new 3-AZ region in Berlin will strengthen the security and resilience of European digital infrastructures. With this location, we are confirming our ambition to support the entire economy, regardless of sector or organization size. European digital sovereignty is not built with isolated champions, but with systemic players capable of operating on an international scale,” said Octave Klaba, founder and CEO, OVHcloud.
The 3-AZ model is designed for critical applications requiring high availability and resilience. A region comprises three independent Availability Zones, with datacenters located a few dozen kilometres apart equipped with separate power supplies and network connections.
It guarantees low latency and maximum security, as well as service continuity, particularly for disaster recovery plans in sectors such as finance, healthcare and public services.

OVHcloud has strengthened its presence in Germany with the deployment of a 3-AZ region in Berlin.

Following France and Italy, this third European 3-AZ cloud region consolidates OVHcloud’ s foothold on the continent and illustrates its commitment to offering ever-higher levels of security, resilience and high availability.
Already operating two datacenters in the country, the new facility confirms OVHcloud’ s role as a partner for German public and private organizations such as Commerz Real, ITSC, the Bundesagentur für Arbeit and the Bundespolizei.
OVHcloud says it will continue to develop highly redundant cloud infrastructures( 3-AZ regions) in Europe with the opening of new regions in other European cities in the future.

Nokia, Telefónica Germany extend partnership with new five-year RAN deal

Nokia has signed a five-year contract extension with Telefónica Germany to modernize the operator’ s nationwide radio access network( RAN) through 2030 – supporting accelerated 5G rollout and advancing Germany’ s digital transformation.

Under the agreement, Nokia will upgrade Telefónica’ s infrastructure with its latest energy-efficient, AI-ready AirScale RAN portfolio. The deployment includes Habrok Massive MIMO radios for the n78 spectrum band, Pandion multi-band remote radio heads, and AirScale small cells to strengthen indoor coverage and increase capacity.
Nokia will also deliver new baseband solutions designed to enhance overall 5G performance and reliability.
The project incorporates Nokia’ s Interleaved Passive Active Antenna( IPAA +), a design aimed at simplifying site construction and speeding up installation timelines – key to meeting Telefónica’ s nationwide 5G expansion goals. The contract also includes maintenance and ongoing network optimization services.
Telefónica will continue using Nokia’ s AI-powered MantaRay Network Management platform, which supports both purpose-built and Cloud RAN architectures. MantaRay NM manages physical and virtualized network elements across core, radio and transport layers.
Nokia and Telefónica say the platform represents an important step toward automation level 4, enabling increasingly autonomous network operations powered by AI.
Nokia noted that Cloud RAN adoption will give Telefónica greater flexibility to scale its 5G network sustainably while preparing for future AI-driven capabilities.
“ We’ re proud to extend our partnership as we help Telefónica strengthen performance, efficiency and customer experience across its 5G network,” said Nokia President and CEO Justin Hotard.“ Nokia has been a trusted partner in our journey to deliver the best network experience,” said Matthias Sauder, Director Networks, O2 Telefónica.
