Telia extends Ericsson RAN partnership in Sweden, Norway, Lithuania and Estonia

Telia has extended its partnership with Ericsson across Sweden, Norway, Lithuania and Estonia in a four-year agreement to boost 5G speed, capacity and coverage.

Telia has extended its RAN partnership with Ericsson across its mobile networks in Sweden, Norway, Lithuania and Estonia through a new four-year agreement.

The partnership will deliver enhanced network speed, capacity and coverage alongside advanced capabilities that help future-proof Telia’ s infrastructure while supporting innovative business- and missioncritical use cases.
The collaboration builds on a longstanding relationship between the two companies and will accelerate the evolution of Telia’ s 5G networks. The upgraded capabilities, powered by Ericsson technology, aim to drive innovation and efficiency across industries such as manufacturing, logistics, healthcare and transportation. They also strengthen Telia’ s focus on Digital Transformation and autonomous networks for enterprises and public services.
Telia’ s business- and mission-critical communications customers, including those in public safety, defence, healthcare, utilities and transport, will benefit from the latest Ericsson RAN advancements. Telia currently manages 26 million subscriptions across its five directto-consumer markets. create new opportunities for service providers to engage with enterprise customers. Country highlights
In Sweden, Telia and Ericsson’ s collaboration has delivered the country’ s top-rated mobile network for five consecutive years, according to independent benchmarking organisation umlaut, with 5G coverage now reaching 99.9 percent of the population. Work is underway to extend 5G coverage along all Swedish train routes by 2030.
The companies have also launched the NorthStar 5G Innovation Program, enabling testing of advanced technologies such as network slicing and highprecision positioning. The Swedish Armed Forces recently joined NorthStar to explore 5G solutions for enhanced defence communications, logistics and NATO interoperability. The partners are also collaborating on modernising Sweden’ s railway communication systems by replacing 2G-based GSM-R with the 5G-based Future Railway Mobile Communication System( FRMCS).

In Norway, the partnership has enabled recordbreaking 5G performance, including mmWave spectrum tests achieving download speeds near US $ 4 Gbps. Telia’ s Ericsson-powered 5G network now covers almost 99 percent of Norway’ s population.
In Lithuania, network modernisation has delivered 95 percent 5G geographical coverage, supporting energy-efficient operations in agriculture, healthcare and transport.
In Estonia, Ericsson’ s private 5G solutions are driving industrial automation and IoT innovation – with Telia’ s 5G network reaching 95.7 % of the population. p
