What were the technical challenges inherent in implementing the Camunda solution with Audi?
“ From a technical standpoint, Camunda is designed to be open and highly composable which made it relatively straightforward to integrate with Audi’ s existing systems and infrastructure. That said, the main challenge was not the integration itself but ensuring seamless endto-end orchestration across complex cross-functional processes. Automotive environments typically involve numerous legacy systems, varied IT landscapes and stringent requirements around performance and compliance. Camunda’ s platform addressed this by providing the flexibility to connect disparate systems and ensure the orchestration layer could operate efficiently at scale. This was essential for enabling real-time decision-making and process visibility, particularly in missioncritical areas like procurement-to-pay.”
How did Camunda work with Audi in implementing the solution?
“ Our role was to provide Audi with robust guidance and best practices throughout its implementation journey. While Camunda doesn’ t directly execute implementations, we stay closely engaged during rollout – working side by side with Audi’ s internal teams and external advisors and, where appropriate, partnering with our network of certified system integrators. By collaborating directly with Audi’ s teams, we defined the right architecture, configured the platform for scalability and compliance and enabled teams to build and deploy orchestration use cases independently.

Our approach empowers customers like Audi to retain control of their roadmap while drawing on our expertise whenever they need it.”
What future technical requirements does Camunda foresee evolving over the life of the partnership?
“ As the automotive sector looks to deploy AI tools and AI agents to drive even greater operational efficiencies, we are seeing growing demand for agentic orchestration. Agentic orchestration ensures that AI operates within controlled, transparent and compliant environments, providing organisations with an audit trail to see what’ s happening at each step. This simplifies compliance reporting and helps verify AI-driven decisions.
