EXA Infrastructure launches new high-capacity fibre route linking London, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Brussels

The new 1,200 km route includes 1,085 km of new low-loss G. 652D terrestrial fibre for end-to-end connectivity and a 115 km subsea build from Margate, UK to Ostend, Belgium, utilising ultra-low-loss G. 654C cable. The two new landing stations – EXA’ s 21st and 22nd globally – further strengthen its extensive network.

EXA Infrastructure has deployed a new fibre route connecting London to Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Brussels.

Integral to this project is a new consortium submarine cable, where EXA Infrastructure is the sole telecom consortium member responsible for providing landing party and backhaul services. The project significantly enhances Europe’ s digital infrastructure with two scalable cable landing stations, modern high fibre count cables and upgrades to existing in line amplifier( ILA) facilities across the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Steve Roberts, SVP Strategic Network Investments and Product Management, EXA Infrastructure, said:“ This is a real milestone for robust connectivity options in Europe and includes the first new subsea cable on this complex corridor – the North Sea – in 25 years. This new route complements our investment in the Channel Tunnel delivering scalable, modern and optimised fibre paths between key FLAP hubs.”
EXA Infrastructure is the largest dedicated digital infrastructure platform throughout Europe, connecting North America and Asia via the Middle East.
Headquartered in London, the company owns 155,000 kilometres of fibre network across 37 countries including six transatlantic cables and the lowest latency link between Europe and North America.

GNM expands European backbone with new optical routes from Sweden to the Balkans

GNM has completed a significant upgrade of its European optical transport infrastructure, extending its highcapacity DWDM backbone from Sweden to the Balkans via fully diverse paths.

A major hardware and rack-level modernisation at GNM’ s Kista node finalises the Frankfurt – Kista corridor upgrade, increasing available bandwidth, reducing energy consumption and improving operational efficiency in Northern Europe.
Concurrently, a new dual-path DWDM route has been launched between Bratislava and Sofia, with one path via Serbia( Belgrade) and another via Romania. The routes converge in Sofia, establishing a resilient and scalable North – Southeast optical corridor.
“ By connecting Northern and Southeastern Europe through diverse, high-capacity links, we’ re strengthening the backbone for regional transit and future growth,” said Alex Surkov, Head of Development at GNM.“ Sofia’ s position as a regional hub makes it key for aggregating traffic from the Middle East, Turkey and the Balkans“.
The expansion supports growing demand for low-latency, high-availability infrastructure across Europe, particularly from regional carriers, content networks and platform providers.
