Silicon Valley campaign set to promote UK ’ s trillion-dollar tech sector
new Silicon Valley campaign has
A been launched to drive investment into the UK ’ s trillion-dollar tech sector to fuel emerging technologies and economic growth , amid the UK ’ s plans to boost R & D spend to £ 20 billion in 2024 .
Last year , the UK proved itself to be a tech superpower as it became the third nation in the world to achieve a tech sector valued at
1 trillion dollars , alongside the US and China , with 162 ‘ tech unicorns ’ valued at more than US $ 1 billion , more than Germany , France and Sweden combined .
Government research suggests that many of Silicon Valley ’ s top tech experts are not aware of the UK ’ s world-leading strengths and this campaign hopes to promote the UK sector ’ s agile regulation and world-class talent via targeted LinkedIn and digital display ads , a content partnership with TechCrunch as well as a short film by Stephen Fry .
The campaign is being supported by multiple UK tech unicorns , Darktrace , Deepmind , Revolut and Matillion , with plans to invite US tech leaders to the UK for London Tech Week , further highlighting the government ’ s strong support for UK tech .
96 % of CISOs struggle to get the support required to be resilient against cyberattacks
Trellix , a cybersecurity company delivering the future of extended detection and response ( XDR ), has released new research , The Mind of the CISO . The research is the result of a survey of global Chief Information Security Officers ( CISOs ) across every major industry and reveals how they work amidst a tumultuous threat landscape , which business functions hold them back and what they need to be successful .
“ Our research shows CISOs are motivated by a mission to protect . Yet , CISOs tell us they feel unsupported , unheard and invisible ,” said Bryan Palma , CEO of Trellix . “ Now is the time , with AI in the hands of both good and bad actors , to revolutionise SecOps strategies and fight back against criminals . We need to empower our CISOs to win every time .”
Fabien Rech , SVP EMEA , Trellix , added : “ Faced with an increasingly complex and ever-evolving threat landscape , CISOs are often underresourced and stretched too thin . This causes significant stress amongst 40 % of SecOps teams across EMEA , with 43 % experiencing major attrition as a result . As an industry , we have seen an observable bleed of talent as cybersecurity professionals are being asked to do more with less .
“ These issues are front and centre for CISOs but surprisingly , the vast majority in EMEA ( 95 %) experience a lack of support at the board level , despite executives recognising the importance of cybersecurity . While CISOs are responsible for protecting company data – and by extension , profitability and reputation – they can ’ t be expected to do it alone .”
