Sweden’s only electric-powered aircraft
manufacturer moving to Säve Airport
The new workspace will be used to design and assemble the prototype
for an e-plane
H
eart Aerospace, the newly started manufacturer of electric
aircraft, has signed a leasing agreement with Castellum for
premises comprising approximately 1,800 square metres at Säve
Airport. The workspace will be used to design and assemble the
prototype for an e-plane, currently under development at the
company. Heart Aerospace’s objective is to develop a 19-seat
electric aircraft with a range of 400 kilometres, to be certified
airworthy by 2025.
Castellum acquired Säve Airport in December 2018. The
development property covers an area of nearly 3 million square
metres, strategically located close to the Gothenburg Harbour and
city centre, as well as national transport routes. The acquisition
constitutes part of Castellum’s long-term strategy to expand the
company’s logistics line of business. Parallel with planning long-
term development in the area and as a complement to existing
operations, the company will create an innovation and development
cluster for sustainable transport and mobility.
“We are very happy that Heart Aerospace has chosen to establish in
the Säve Airport area. The company is running an exciting operation
that lines up perfectly with the innovation cluster we’d like to create
in the area, while we plan development over the longer term,” said
Mariette Hilmersson, Managing Director for Castellum’s Region West.
Heart Aerospace is one of the first tenants to move into the area
since the acquisition.

Sparkle continues its commitment to environmental
sustainability for its Istanbul data centre
S
parkle, the first international service provider in Italy and among
the top 10 global operators, has completed the expansion and
renovation of its Istanbul data centre with the adoption of state-of-
the-art energy efficient equipment.
Today, data centres consume more than 2% of the world’s
electricity, requiring the implementation of more efficient
technologies able to meet the growing demand for services while
decreasing energy consumption.
Sparkle has been the first in Turkey to introduce Lithium-ion (Li-ion)
batteries in its premises in 2018, becoming the first green data
centre in the country; located in Yenibosna and served by Sparkle’s
Tier 1 global IP Transit service, Seabone. It is one of the largest
and most important open colocation facilities in Turkey, featuring
advanced technologies and sophisticated monitoring systems.
In the last year, the facility has been completely restructured and
expanded with additional 300m2 of white space area; moreover,
several energy-related interventions have been carried out to improve
the data centre’s environmental sustainability, reliability and
efficiency while providing additional power and space to new and
existing customers.
Updates included replacement of the power system with the
adoption of energy efficient technologies for all its components –
Medium and Low Voltage (MV and LV) transformers, generators,
uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs) and batteries – and the
introduction of a new cooling system able to increase capacity by
40% while reducing consumption by 14%. These updates resulted in
an improvement of the average Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE).
In addition, the data centre modernisation included the renovation
of fire and safety systems, to provide customers with a secure
and sustainable infrastructure fully compliant with regulation on
customer data security and privacy.
