e-shelter secures second data centre campus
in Berlin
shelter, a leading data centre provider in Europe and a member
of the NTT Group, has acquired a development site from BMDF
Gewerbepark Berlin-Mariendorf GmbH & Co. KG. It will enable the
company to develop a data centre campus of 60,000 sqm and 90
MVA of data centre capacity with the first phase scheduled to be
ready in Q4 2020.
Berlin is innovating to keep
up with data demand
‘Marienpark Berlin’ is located just south of the city centre and is
14km from the existing e-shelter Berlin 1 data centre which provides
13 MW of capacity.
Customers at the Marienpark data centre campus will have access
to e-shelter’s e-connect platform featuring multiple carrier and
cloud providers.
The close linear distance of the sites within the Berlin city region
means customers will have the option to operate infrastructure in both,
Berlin 1 and the new campus in an ‘active-active-configuration’.
Volker Ludwig, Senior Vice President Sales of e-shelter, said: “Demand in
the Berlin market has been sustainably growing over the past years. We
see digitisation as one of the key drivers and experience strong demand
from several industries including hyperscalers, public sector and media.”

LuxTurrim5G ecosystem expands with new
Connected Zone bus stops
I
n 2018, Teleste built a smart and safe
bus stop at the Nokia Campus in Espoo,
Finland, as a part of the LuxTurrim5G
ecosystem. The innovative bus stop has
been designed to improve safety and
Finland is taking the right steps
towards becoming smarter
security for public places through Teleste’s
Connected Zone concept that was launched
in 2018. Now, after the successful pilot, two
additional Connected Zone bus stops are
applied to the ecosystem. With the new bus
stops, the project also anticipates the pilot
of an autonomous bus route that is being
planned for this summer as a part of the
LuxTurrim5G test network.
“It’s really exciting to be a part of the
LuxTurrim5g project and we look forward to
our future collaboration. Piloting the smart
and safe bus stop at the Nokia Campus has
been highly successful and we are pleased
to go forward with expanding the use of
Connected Zone within the ecosystem,”
said Stig Waldemarsson, Director of VSI
Scandinavia at Teleste Sweden.
LuxTurrim5G is a Nokia Bell Labs driven
ecosystem project developing and
demonstrating fast 5G network based on
smart light poles with integrated antennas,
base stations, sensors, screens and other
devices. This joint project opens new digital
services and business opportunities for a real
smart city.
