Orange Belgium selects Nokia to build AI-ready optical network across Belgium
Orange Belgium has selected Nokia as the sole supplier for a major upgrade of its transport infrastructure, creating a converged optical network designed to support rising demand from 5G, AI, quantum-resilient security and high-capacity digital services.
The multi-year project will unify the operator’ s fixed and mobile transport networks into a single optical infrastructure spanning Belgium. The modernisation aims to deliver a more resilient, secure and scalable backbone capable of meeting growing bandwidth requirements driven by machine learning, remote working, video streaming, gaming and cloud services.
By consolidating its transport infrastructure, Orange Belgium expects to simplify operations, improve service delivery and accelerate the rollout of new services. Nokia will provide its AI-powered WaveSuite automation platform to streamline network management, improve operational efficiency and reduce deployment times.
The upgraded optical network will carry fixed and mobile traffic from customer equipment across metro access and backbone infrastructure, supporting services from 1G to 400G and beyond. The deployment also marks the first use of Nokia’ s 1830 PSS optical transport platform within an Orange affiliate.

Volkswagen selects T-Systems to build global private cloud for secure European data processing
Volkswagen Group has awarded T-Systems a major contract to build and operate its new global private cloud, strengthening the automotive giant’ s Digital Transformation strategy while reinforcing data processing within the European legal framework.
The new platform, known internally as Group Private Cloud 2.0, will become the central infrastructure for applications across Volkswagen’ s portfolio of brands. Initially hosting new IT applications, the cloud will gradually support the migration of many existing systems – complementing the company’ s in-house IT environment and providing greater operational flexibility.

T Cloud Private is designed to deliver secure, scalable cloud services for sensitive workloads while helping organisations meet strict regulatory requirements, improve cyber resilience and benefit from automation and efficient data processing across global operations.
T-Systems will deploy its T Cloud Private platform, giving Volkswagen greater control over infrastructure, data locations and security standards while reducing reliance on public cloud providers.
