Information Officer or a Chief Digital Officer. If you went to your CEO or CFO and asked to change your title to‘ Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer’ would they see it as a genuine role evolution or think you’ re trying to secure a pay bump by riding the AI bandwagon?
Why we need to upgrade
Having just made that transition myself albeit from CEO to CAIO and feeling hugely empowered as a result I want to share some arguments for why it’ s a smart move for any organization. I also hope to show any CIOs hesitant to embrace this new way of characterizing their contribution that there is deep continuity with all the work they have been doing up until now anyway. Looking back at my own roles I’ ve always focused on maximizing the outcome of digital platforms and monetizing the client ' s or my own platform using data and I suspect many of us could say the same.
Until recently AI was largely experimental: models were inconsistent tools immature and real-world deployment difficult. ChatGPT
