EIB Group ramps up support for Polish technological innovation

The EIB Group has expanded its role in Innovate Poland by financing Synerise and cooperating with PFR on a new platform designed to improve access to funding for innovative projects.

EIB Group is significantly increasing its support for technological innovation in Poland. The EU’ s development bank is expanding its role within Innovate Poland, the national investment mobilisation programme, by granting strategic financing to AI company Synerise and launching cooperation with PFR on a new Digital Transformation platform that helps innovative projects access available funding.

The EIF, part of the EIB Group, will allocate PLN 500 million and manage the new Future Tech Poland fund-of-funds designed to mobilise venture capital under Innovate Poland. The EIB has also signed a € 25 million venture debt agreement with Synerise, which will use the financing to implement a € 54 million programme aimed at developing next-generation AI-driven behavioural analysis technology. Synerise will expand its proprietary infrastructure for advanced big data analytics and strengthen sales efforts in Europe, North America and the Middle East.
“ The EIF is actively involved in the Polish plan to foster early-stage companies bringing financing and fund management experience to Innovate Poland” said EIB Vice-President Teresa Czerwińska.“ Our cooperation with Synerise shows how we support domestic innovation leaders while enhancing Europe’ s competitive position in the global technology race. We also strengthen the innovation ecosystem through advisory services and the TechEU Investment Readiness Checker which connects innovative ideas with available capital.”
Future Tech Poland will reach PLN 1.5 billion through contributions from the EIF( PLN 500 million) and Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego( PLN 1 billion). The fund will reinforce the growth of Polish start-ups by investing in venture capital funds that support firms with strong expansion potential. In addition to boosting resources for high-risk ventures it will help scale the Polish venture capital market and consolidate Poland’ s position as a regional technology hub.
Synerise’ s platform automates business decisions offers personalised online services and interprets user behaviour in real time. The company processes more than 42 billion events each month while its proprietary Terrarium engine manages over 140 billion queries and peaks at more than 30 000 AI decisions per second scanning over 6 billion behavioural profiles daily.
Synerise’ s funding comes from TechEU the EIB Group’ s flagship programme and the largest innovation financing initiative in EU history. The Group has scaled up financing for this purpose to € 70 billion by 2027 aiming to mobilise € 250 billion of new investment in AI quantum computing biotechnology digital infrastructure security clean energy advanced medical technologies and semiconductors.
TechEU targets start-ups scale-ups SMEs and innovative projects across the European Union. It offers equity quasi-equity loans and guarantees and provides the digital Investment Readiness Checker. More than 800 start-ups have registered since its launch and the platform now includes information on funds cooperating with PFR Ventures. This strengthens collaboration between the EIB Group and the PFR Group in supporting Poland’ s innovation ecosystem.

Following the forthcoming agreement between the EIF and BGK the first projects are expected to be approved this year with full implementation of the programme planned by the end of 2027.
