Nokia and Swisscom Broadcast to deploy largest Drones-as-a-Service network beyond visual line of sight ( BVLOS ) autonomous operation .

In addition to increasing first responders ’ safety , drones support resource optimisation and help to save the lives of those involved in incidents . The drones , which are operated remotely , gather relevant information within the first minutes following an emergency , enhancing first responders ’ situational awareness .

Swisscom Broadcast has selected Nokia to deploy a nationwide Drones-as-a- Service network across Switzerland .

Three hundred Nokia Drone-in-a-Box units are planned for deployment to enable emergency response , perimeter protection and infrastructure inspection , which will help keep public safety workers safe .
This will be the second nationwide Nokia Drone Networks project after Belgium ’ s Citymesh deployment . It will support Switzerland ’ s public safety and Industry 4.0 efforts and highlight Nokia ’ s strength in modernising digital infrastructure projects and utilising mission-critical industrial edge computing ( MXIE ) with the support of 3GPP technologies for
Public safety agencies in Switzerland will easily tap into the nationwide drone network by simply requesting a drone flight , similar to a ride-sharing service , from Swisscom Broadcast . They will also be backed up by a service portfolio with expertise , compliance , data collection and analysis of the collected data from Nokia and Swisscom Broadcast .
The deployment is expected to be available in all areas of Switzerland .

Three Discovery launches new CPD Qualifications to empower communities with core digital skills

Three UK is the first mobile network operator to offer Continuing Professional Development ( CPD ) qualifications to anyone based in the UK in a drive to continue improving the UK ’ s digital skills .

Three Discovery , the digital skills programme from Three UK , has launched a series of free CPD Certified Workshops aimed at enhancing digital skills across communities in the UK .
As the digital landscape continues to evolve , the importance of digital literacy has never been greater . In the UK , approximately 4.4million adults lack basic digital skills and 1.5million people have no digital skill .
Recognising this gap , Three Discovery has developed a suite of free CPD workshops that focus on core digital skills , including online safety , communicating tools and problem solving . These workshops are crafted to be accessible to all , ensuring that participants from all backgrounds can benefit and adapt to the digital age .
