Nokia and MEO have signed a multi-year contract to modernise the Portuguese telecom ’ s existing RAN infrastructure and enhance its 5G capabilities .
The agreement covers network modernisation , including the replacement of existing 2G , 4G and 5G infrastructure .
Under the contract , Nokia will supply equipment from its 5G AirScale portfolio powered by its energy-efficient ReefShark System-on-Chip technology , including Massive MIMO , baseband and remote radio head solutions for both indoor and outdoor scenarios .
Landsec , one of the UK ’ s leading commercial real estate companies , is launching an optimised Landsec Experience app across its entire London portfolio of prime workplaces using Smart Spaces ’ smart building OS .
The new app is designed to help people who work in Landsec ’ s buildings get the most from their time in and around their offices . In addition to digital access control , it provides office customers with access to a range of personalised experiences , events and discounts along with the latest information about their workplaces , through their smartphones and smartwatches .
MEO will also utilise Nokia ’ s MantaRay SON , the Self-Organising Networks solution , for optimisation and network assurance .
The app also integrates with Landsec ’ s flexible office brand , Myo , allowing Landsec customers to book meeting rooms and events spaces through the app in Piccadilly , The City of London , Southbank and Victoria .

SPAIN
The 5GMED project has unveiled its solutions for seamless cross-border connectivity between France and Spain .
The app will also enable two-way consumer feedback for Landsec with customer surveys to better understand how its buildings are being used and any opportunities for its services to be enhanced .
The initiative aims to enhance connectivity and integration across borders using advanced 5G technology . It focuses on improving communication networks to ensure continuous and reliable connectivity , which is crucial for the efficient operation of various services and industries .
The project ’ s findings and proposed solutions are the result of four years of extensive research and development , highlighting the potential benefits of implementing robust 5G infrastructure to support cross-border interactions and operations .

GERMANY
Vyoma , a Germany-based space technology company , has been awarded two significant contracts from the European Defence Fund ( EDF ) to enhance space security . These contracts are part of the EMISSARY and STAALION projects .
The EMISSARY project , led by Leonardo , involves over 40 partners from 13 EU countries and has a budget of € 100 million over four years . It aims to build a network of ground and spacebased sensors to enhance space domain awareness .
The 5GMED project aligns with the European Union ’ s goals for 5G deployment , particularly the objectives set out in the 5G Action Plan and the Digital Decade Communication , which aim for full 5G deployment by 2030 .
The STAALION project , led by Nurjana Technologies , has a € 6 million budget over two years . It focuses on creating a system for rapid threat detection and response to protect European space assets , particularly in Low Earth Orbit ( LEO ) and Geostationary Earth Orbit ( GEO ).
Vyoma will develop and test crucial components for both projects , contributing to Europe ’ s efforts in securing its space infrastructure and enhancing its defence capabilities .
