Generative AI represents unparalleled opportunity to enhance diversity in the UK workplace

survey by Accenture has revealed that

A over half ( 53 %) of young women in the UK believe Generative AI will have a positive impact on their career prospects .

Liz Barnsdale , Accenture ’ s Inclusion and Diversity Lead in the UK and Ireland , believes Generative AI offers an unparalleled opportunity to enhance diversity in the UK workplace .
“ Generative AI could be the once in a lifetime opportunity to get diversity right in the UK workplace ,” she said . “ With over half of Gen Z women considering AI roles having used the tech , we could finally turn the tide on under representation of women in industries from the technology sector to creative and design . If deployed responsibly , Generative AI can completely reinvent how a business operates , and the tasks people do , which means AI could help to equal actual inclusion .”
As Generative AI disrupts professions in every industry , from content creation to coding , the research also showed that using the technology was having an impact on career choices . A third ( 33 %) of Gen Z respondents said the advent of Generative AI had influenced them to opt for a career in the creative industries , like design and media .
The survey showed that marginally more young women ( 64 %), than young men ( 60 %), are interested in entering traditionally maledominated creative professions .
“ In order to successfully navigate the age of intelligence , British businesses will need to nurture diversity ,” Barnsdale added .
