MSB strengthens Sweden ’ s national critical network with 5G from Ericsson and emergencies – and to operate available resources when they occur . The ability to securely communicate with guaranteed high quality in such emergency situations – particularly when multiple stakeholder agencies are involved – could be a crucial factor in saving lives .

The Swedish Civil Contingencies

Agency ( MSB ) has procured a 5G core network from Ericsson to develop Rakel G2 , Sweden ’ s critical communications network for public safety and emergency services including national defence purposes .
Police , fire brigades , emergency medical services and military organisations will be able to collaborate more effectively with enhanced situational awareness , provided by secure and fast means of sharing voice , data , images and video .
Having a secure , accessible and resilient communications network is crucial for first responders and their organisations helping to prevent and prepare for crises
Ronny Harpe , Director , Rakel and Command Operating Systems , MSB , said : “ A prerequisite for co-operation within our national defence is access to a robust , modern , dedicated communications system . An investment in such a system not only strengthens Sweden ’ s ability to collaborate and lead mission critical operations on an everyday basis , but also during potential large-scale crisis .”
MSB ’ s new dual-mode 5G Core network from Ericsson will be a crucial part of Sweden ’ s next-generation Public Protection and Disaster Relief ( PPDR ) mission-critical mobile network , designated Rakel G2 .

Nokia , A1 and Microsoft deploy industry ’ s first 5G edge cloud network slicing solution for enterprises

Nokia and A1 Austria ( A1 ) have announced that they have successfully completed the industry ’ s first 5G edge cloud network slicing trial with Microsoft . The deployment utilised Nokia ’ s 5G edge slicing solution integrated with Microsoft Azure managed edge compute on A1 ’ s live commercial network in Vienna , Austria .

With edge cloud network slicing , A1 can bring enterprise cloud applications to mobile users over a high capacity , secure and low latency network .
During the trial , A1 demonstrated real-time HD video streaming by transmitting live camera feeds from several mobile devices using Multicasting . io ’ s streaming mobile platform running on the Azure edge infrastructure .
The 5G edge cloud network slicing solution can be used by enterprises and industries across a wide range of use cases including retail , media , utilities , healthcare and transportation . The solution offers mobile operators an opportunity to generate new revenue streams .
Nokia ’ s 5G edge slicing solution enables operators to take advantage of both slicing and edge cloud capabilities . Network slices can be tailored to support specific customers ’ use cases and different applications based on network performance , quality , traffic routing , latency and security .
Nokia ’ s new solution enabled A1 to isolate its public Internet and enterprise traffic while keeping critical business traffic local using 4G / 5G core breakout for enterprise edge cloud applications .
