EDITOR ’ S NOTE
Hello and welcome to the latest edition of Intelligent CIO for Europe . This month ’ s cover story , which can be found on page 54 , features Jenna Brown , Head of Uber for Business UK . She discusses how a decrease in harmonised non-financial reporting is causing a lack of confidence among managers , and how data is the key to providing granular insights to enable visibility for leaders .
The bank will be among the first in the UK to deploy generative AI with a virtual assistant enabling a safe , intuitive and accessible experience in its digital services . Chief Digital Information Officer , Wendy Redshaw of the NatWest Group ’ s Retail Bank , said : “ We are a relationship bank in a digital world , building trusted , long-term relationships with our customers through meaningful and personalised engagement .
“ While sustainability and ESG reporting are at the forefront of businesses ’ minds , a recent survey by KPMG suggested that only one-in-four companies feel highly confident in meeting ESG reporting requirements ,” says Brown . “ To confront this lack of confidence head-on and make sustainable travel more mainstream , ESG managers must focus on visibility and awareness . For visibility , companies must ensure a consistent framework for collating all the ESG data . That way , managers can easily access the necessary data for annual reporting . Uber for Business helps companies do this through services like the sustainability insights dashboard which creates more granular visibility into carbon spend and savings .”
On page 66 – 68 , we explore how NatWest is collaborating with IBM on a generative AI initiative to enhance customer experience . NatWest and IBM have announced enhancements to the bank ’ s virtual assistant , Cora , that will use generative AI to provide customers with access to a wider range of information through conversational interactions .
“ Building on Cora ’ s success over the last five years , we ’ re working with companies like IBM to leverage the latest generative AI innovations that will help make Cora feel even more ‘ human ’ and , most importantly , a trusted , safe and reliable digital partner for our customers .”
