TALKING

‘‘ business

Many businesses are turning to private LTE and 5G networks .
Being able to deploy network infrastructure so quickly using wireless technology means organisations can keep their employees connected from day one while operating on-site . For example , Hitachi has used private networks to showcase the potential of smart factories , with it supporting real-time digital video , AI and Edge-to-cloud technologies . Likewise , Samsung has used the technology to improve workflow at Hoban Construction where it is enabling drone-based highresolution monitoring , IoT concrete strength sensors and smart safety jackets .
These are just some examples of how private networks are helping manufacturers to advance their sustainability journey and protect their staff from harsh working conditions .
How Cradlepoint is addressing sustainability directly
While helping organisations on their own sustainability journeys is important , it is also crucial that we take proactive steps as a business as well . This is why Cradlepoint and our parent company , Ericsson , have together set a target to be net zero across our value chain by 2040 .
Of course , our most important contribution to climate change mitigation is delivering an energy efficient portfolio that will help break the energy curve of mobile networks and reduce our customers ’ energy use , energy cost and carbon emissions . Our recently launched W1855 router was purpose-built to require fewer design materials , using 30 % less energy when under load . It is also 100 % plastic free , while adhering to the latest 5G standards . We are also committed to reducing the impact of used hardware , which is one of the reasons why we set up the Cradlepoint Recycling Programme , to collect , repurpose and recycle products around the world . All Cradlepoint routers and adaptors are also packaged using plastic-free and recyclable shipping material .
Connecting to a better world
Companies that want to thrive today must ensure they are not only innovating and growing their customer base , but also meeting sustainability objectives . With ESG criteria being considered in everything from government contracts all the way through to which shops consumers choose to spend their money with , having the right technology and network infrastructure in place to operate more efficiently and cut wase is no longer a nice-to-have , but a necessity . It is only through private networks and working with suppliers that match these aims , that businesses can ensure they have the reliability , flexibility and visibility to achieve these objectives . The organisations that fail to seize this opportunity risk falling behind their competitors in the long run . p
