CyrusOne announces new Frankfurt data centre with BEOS and Swiss Life Asset Managers
This follows a competitive selection process in which CyrusOne was the favoured partner to deliver a data centre scheme that prioritises sustainability , provides re-used waste heat to the Westside campus and is aligned to BEOS ’ commitment to creating spaces that support creativity , innovation , progress and productivity . The partnership marks an important step in CyrusOne ’ s ongoing commitment to European expansion and a sustainable future .
Starting with a total capacity of 81MW delivered across nine data halls in two three-storey buildings , the facility will benefit from CyrusOne ’ s highly efficient data centre design to achieve a BREEAM ‘ Very Good ’ certification as a minimum and deliver an annualised PUE of < 1.3 in advance of European energy efficiency directive targets for 2030 . It will also fall in line with the anticipated energy efficiency targets proposed by German legislation .
CyrusOne – a leading global data centre developer and operator
– has announced plans for its seventh data centre campus in Frankfurt , named FRA7 , located on a 63,000 square metre plot at Frankfurt Westside ; a 73-hectare commercial and industrial mixeduse regeneration project managed by BEOS AG and Swiss Life Asset Managers Deutschland GmbH ( Swiss Life Asset Managers ).
Innovative waste heat re-use methods will be deployed within both buildings with a potential 40MW of waste heat delivered to the campus heating network when at full capacity . The facility will be powered by renewable energy , as has CyrusOne ’ s entire operational portfolio in Europe since June 2021 . In addition , specific practices are being implemented throughout the design and construction phase to source sustainable materials and lower
CO 2 emissions .
Honeywell and Heart Aerospace collaborate on flight controls for ES-30 electric aeroplane
Swedish electric aeroplane maker , Heart Aerospace , and
Honeywell , a leader in aerospace technology , have announced a collaboration to integrate Honeywell ’ s next-generation flight control system into the new ES-30 regional electric aeroplane .
Honeywell was selected by Heart Aerospace for the Joint Definition Phase of Heart ’ s ES-30 aeroplane and the goal – once the phase has been completed successfully – is to fully integrate Honeywell ’ s compact Fly-by-Wire system into development for production .
“ We are thrilled to welcome Honeywell to the ES-30 programme . With its long track record in flight controls they are an ideal collaboration partner for Heart Aerospace as we strive to decarbonise air travel before the end of this decade ,” said Anders Forslund , Co-founder and CEO of Heart Aerospace .
Honeywell ’ s next-generation compact Fly-by-Wire system is in an advanced stage of development on multiple aircraft and its functions are adaptable to the ES-30 , allowing Heart to bring its aeroplane to market quickly and cost-effectively .
The ES-30 is a regional electric aeroplane with a 30-passenger standard seating capacity and is driven by electric motors powered by batteries . It will have a fully electric zero emissions range of 200 kilometres , an extended hybrid range of 400 kilometres with 30 passengers and the flexibility to fly up to 800 kilometres with 25 passengers , all with typical airline reserves .
