Digital Realty acquires land in Amsterdam to support customers ’ growing demand for data centre infrastructure

The land parcel has the capacity to support a data centre with a total installed IT power in excess of 40MW and will be interconnected with Digital Realty ’ s existing Schiphol data centres , granting customers access to a wide range of colocation and connectivity solutions in a true campus environment . These include direct connections to unique network services providers and cloud service providers including Amazon Web Services ( AWS ), Microsoft Azure , Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Google Cloud , resulting in low latency , secure access to the world ’ s leading cloud providers , cost reduction and enhanced efficiency .
Digital Realty , one of the largest global providers of cloud- and carrier-neutral data centres , colocation and interconnection solutions , has announced the acquisition of a 36,000 sqm ( 8.9-acre ) land parcel located on its existing Amsterdam Schiphol

AI set to unlock £ 31bn increase in UK productivity
The UK economy could secure a £ 31 billion boost from the widespread adoption of Generative AI , according to new research from KPMG . According to the ‘ Big Four ’ firm , Generative AI is set to increase UK productivity by 1.2 % – the equivalent of an extra output of £ 31 billion a year in the UK economy .
Yael Selfin , Chief Economist , KPMG UK , said Generative AI could carry out “ on average , around 2.5 % of tasks across various occupations in the UK ”, freeing up workers will provide more time to focus on other activities .
The report also discovered four-in-10 jobs can expect some impact from Generative AI . However , only 10 % of occupations will face significant impact , with over 5 % of their work affected .
Selfin added that Generative AI is not going to steal many jobs but it could present several transition challenges . Changes in working practices of some jobs could cause shortterm skill mismatches as people adjust to the new technology .
