Bold leadership elevates CIOs to the boardroom , according to Logicalis global study
CIOs have stepped into the role of digital evangelist and strategic advisor , according to the 2023 Global CIO Survey from Logicalis , a global technology service provider .
The study questioned 1,000 technology leaders and explores how the role of the CIO is evolving . 2023 ’ s survey , The Meteoric Rise of the CIO , demonstrates a monumental shift in the role of the CIO from tech implementor to business leader . Tech leaders are actively involved in creating business strategy – 41 % have some level of responsibility for business strategy while 81 % say they are spending more time on innovation . They are using their technology expertise to deliver innovative solutions that drive value and competitive advantage . Over three quarters ( 77 %) are now spending more time selling ideas to the board .
“ CIOs are playing a leading role in orchestrating transformation and are stepping up in response to the changing industry dynamics ,” said Bob Bailkoksi , CEO at Logicalis .
“ Yet , CIOs are faced with challenges to navigate including a potential recession and talent shortages . In addition to this , they are experiencing increased pressure to deliver digital-based outcomes for their organisations , giving them more exposure to their boards and requiring a different way of operating .”
Prime enters Denmark with 124MW data centre campus
Prime , a global provider of hyperscale and wholesale data centres , has announced plans to expand its EMEA footprint to Denmark with a 124MW campus .
Located at Energivej in Saeby , Prime Denmark features three hyperscale data centres and will be marketed to international cloud providers , Internet businesses , AI and the Global Fortune 500 .
“ Denmark represents a strong growth opportunity for Prime ,” said Nicholas Laag , Founder and CEO of Prime . “ The project will provide much-needed capacity as Denmark ’ s projected data centre needs accelerate at a 25 % CAGR through 2030 . Additionally , this will be Prime ’ s most sustainable campus developed to date with a unique PUE offering that is neutral , reinforcing the company ’ s commitment to our customers , ESG and to building the foundation for global technology advancement .”
The Saeby campus is designed to achieve the country ’ s first DGNB Gold certification for sustainability . Waste heat will be recycled and used to provide district heating from Saeby Heat Plant to the local community . SHP returns chilled water to the campus . Prime Denmark will be carbon neutral and powered by 100 % renewable energy delivering a net-positive environmental impact .
Additional sustainability highlights include biofuel-powered backup generators , environmentally friendly building materials and a customer option for in-rack cooling that efficiently handles power densities of up to 50 kW per cabinet .
