Ericsson and Telenet begin nationwide 5G network rollout in Belgium
The deal will see Telenet deploying Ericsson Operations Engine in 2022 , comprising the latest in AI and automation to enhance its mobile network performance and offer improved customer experience . Telenet announced the selection of Ericsson as 5G Radio Access Network ( RAN ) vendor in a network modernisation deal announced in March 2021 .
Ericsson network optimisation services will also be provided under the deal . The solution combines multi-vendor networks expertise with the latest AI-enabled Cognitive Software suite . This functionality will enhance customer experiences and ensure a superior return from Telenet ’ s deployed network assets . Ericsson will also extend its current Mobile Operation Centre with monitoring of the fixed network .
As part the deal , Ericsson will employ 15 of Telenet ’ s mobile network experts while maintaining their current employment conditions .
Ericsson and Belgian Communications Service Provider , Telenet , are extending their managed services partnership through a five-year deal that will see Ericsson take responsibility for planning , design , operations and optimisation . The deal also includes the deployment and seamless integration of 5G hardware into Telenet ’ s mobile network .

Leaseweb Global becomes formal member of Gaia-X AISBL
Leaseweb Global , a leading hosting and cloud services company , has announced that it has officially become a member of Gaia-X AISBL , the European Association for Data and Cloud , which was founded in January 2021 .
Gaia-X was a project initiated by market parties in the European Union to create federated secure data infrastructures jointly developed based on EU rules .
Organisations involved in Gaia-X like Leaseweb , are committed to working together to design a next-generation sovereign European Cloud infrastructure , covering the needs of business and residents in Europe .
Leaseweb is engaged in the mission to design and rollout these new cloud infrastructures based on the Gaia-X principles and has delegated three senior executives with different skillsets to participate in key parts of the Gaia-X working groups . The Leaseweb team includes Robert van der Meulen , Leaseweb Global ’ s Director of Product Strategy ; Jaqueline van de Werken , Leaseweb Global ’ s Group General Counsel responsible for Regulatory , Legal and Compliance , both supporting the Netherlands Hub of Gaia-X and Marcus Busch , CEO of Leaseweb Deutschland , as part of the DE-hub .
