NOS opens new data centre to strengthen
cloud offering and data services
T
he most recent NOS data centre is part
of the company’s investment aimed at
increasing current capacity by 50% by the
end of 2018 to improve efficiency and meet
the challenges of the digital society.
NOS has officially opened the Imopolis
II data centre in Carnaxide, a building
equipped with the most advanced
technology, which will significantly
strengthen the support to its businesses and
the operator’s business offer in relation to
cloud and related services.
The data centre covers an area of around
1,000m² and has a floor space of 630m² of
technical rooms in which computing systems
and data storage will be located.
The NOS data centre complex has been
the target of continuous investment by the
operator to the tune of around €10 million
each year. NOS has forecast an increase in
2018 of 50% in the storage capacity of data
and related services.
According to Jorge Graça, Board Director
at NOS and also NOS’ CTO: “The new data
centre is the most modern and efficient in
Portugal and will increase the company’s
capability to support its business activity and
to provide service to its business customers
in two areas that require data storage and
which are seeing exponential growth: cloud
and data analytics services. In 2018, NOS will
be increasing its installed capacity for data
storage and related business services by 50%,
with more new generation infrastructure to be
announced soon.”

Vodafone wins international tender for
the Águas de Portugal Group
will provide a range of
services and applications
common to all the
operating companies.

odafone Portugal has announced that
it will provide data circuit services in the
infrastructures of the 13 companies that
make up the Águas de Portugal (AdP) Group.
Selected through an international public
tender, Vodafone will supply the AdP
Group’s data network which connects
over 120 locations across Portugal and

Since all corporate
services have great
importance for the normal
operation of Águas de
Portugal, the solution
was custom-designed,
combining different
fixed and mobile access
technologies. In addition
to being supported on a highly-developed
technological infrastructure and a next-
generation fibre network which now reaches
more than 2.7 million homes and businesses,
the solution is based on the 4G network.
The project also has the capacity to be
scalable to respond to eventual growth in
bandwidth, allowing the flexibility required
for the development of new AdP Group
functionalities and services. At the same
time, it ensures maximum reliability and
security of data traffic.

The companies of the Águas de Portugal
Group provide services, directly or indirectly,
to around 80% of the Portuguese population
in the areas of water supply and waste water
treatment. The Group, which also operates
in the areas of renewable energy, shared
services and international markets, will benefit
from technical support 24 hours a day, seven
days a week, 365 days a year.
