Netmore Group is collaborating with Aarhus Vand and Kamstrup to deploy 69,000 digitally connected water meters across Aarhus Municipality in Denmark.
Powered by Netmore’ s carrier-grade LoRaWAN network and Kamstrup’ s digital metering technology, the project will give Aarhus Vand real-time visibility into water consumption while helping residents understand and reduce their usage.
The rollout will begin in Tranbjerg following a successful pilot involving approximately 1,000 households, which validated communication between Kamstrup’ s meters and Aarhus Vand. Deployment will continue through 2030, covering communities across the municipality.
“ Delivering reliable meter reading demands a network that meets high-performance requirements consistently, not just in ideal conditions, but across every meter, every day,” said Helle Pernille Hansen, Specialist Manager at Aarhus Vand.
She said the pilot showed that LoRaWAN met those standards in practice, giving the partners confidence to scale the programme and provide customers with visibility into their water consumption.
Netmore will deploy and manage a LoRaWAN network, enabling seamless data transmission between the meters and Aarhus Vand’ s systems. Customers will be notified when their meters become operational for remote reading.
Eric Collinder, Country Manager Nordics at Netmore, said carrier-grade connectivity was essential to smart metering deployments, helping utilities improve resource management, operational efficiency and access to customer data.
Henrik Jensen, SVP at Kamstrup Water, added that smart metering delivered its full value only when data arrived reliably and on time.
Deployment partner Eltel will install the meters area by area, beginning in Tranbjerg before expanding throughout Aarhus Municipality over the coming years.

Espoo is strengthening its position in European defence technology by consolidating more than 100 companies, research organisations and innovation programmes within its expanding Defence Tech Hub.
Centred on the Otaniemi innovation district, the Finnish ecosystem brings together companies developing dual-use technologies spanning satellite systems, quantum computing, sensors, software, Artificial Intelligence, autonomous systems and drones.
Leading participants include ICEYE, IQM, Kuva Space, Vaisala, Varjo, Elfys, ReOrbit, Tespack and Savox. Research and innovation partners include VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, NATO’ s Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic( DIANA) and Defence Innovation Network Finland( DEFINE).
VTT facilitates the NATO DIANA accelerator and test centre in Otaniemi in partnership with DEFINE. The programme supports companies developing emerging and disruptive technologies considered strategically important to NATO, providing training and assistance in developing defence-sector opportunities.
Kai Mykkänen, Mayor of Espoo, said growing security challenges were accelerating demand for innovation and dualuse technologies.
“ Defence Tech Hub supports defence and security innovation and strengthens Finland’ s position as a leader in emerging technologies,” he said.
Jarno Limnéll, Chairperson, Espoo City Council, said technologies including AI, quantum, space, secure communications, autonomous systems and cyber resilience were becoming increasingly important to defence and society.
The cluster also provides access to specialised infrastructure, including security-classified facilities, cleanrooms and advanced testing capabilities.
Jaana Tuomi, CEO, Enter Espoo, said international interest had exceeded expectations, with strong demand driving the hub’ s expansion and enabling participating organisations to collaborate within Finland’ s leading innovation district.
