Zalando reveals new Tech Hub location
in Lisbon
Z
alando SE, one of Europe’s leading online platforms for fashion
and lifestyle, revealed the location of its new international
technology hub in the heart of Lisbon. The office is situated on
Avenida da Liberdade in central Lisbon and has space for around
60 team members, as well as large common areas which aim to
promote cross-team collaboration and foster Zalando’s innovation
culture. The hub marks the third time the company has expanded its
international tech footprint within Europe.
“I am really excited that we are able to add another international
tech hub to our portfolio,” said Philipp Erler, SVP of Digital
Experience at Zalando. “It is so important that we are able to
develop, grow and engage a diverse pool of tech talent within
Zalando to ensure we can provide the best and most personalised
digital experience to our customers.”
Recruiting at the hub is running according to plans, with Zalando
Lisbon having hired 16 employees since operations began in December
2017, including product managers, UX designers and engineers.
The company is continuing to actively recruit frontend software
engineers and full stack engineers, whose goal will be further
developing the customer’s digital experience within the Zalando
fashion store across all 17 European markets and is looking to end
2018 with a team of 35 in Lisbon.
Heading up the new Lisbon office is Marc Lamik, Managing Director
of Zalando Digital Portugal: “The reason we’ve come to Lisbon is quite
simple: as Zalando grows, we need to go where the talent is. Lisbon
hosts an excellent tech ecosystem. It allows us to attract the talent we
need to enhance the shopping experience for our customers.”
