EDITOR’S NOTE
W
elcome to the latest edition
of Intelligent CIO Europe. As
we try and grasp the speed at
which technology is innovating, companies
are attempting to keep up with their data
storage requirements as they expand. Storage
capabilities must increase as more and more
data is utilised in the technology sphere.
Speaking of data storage, our cover story
for this month comes from the Formula One
Team of Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-AMG
Petronas Motorsport, and we look at how the
company controls and manages its data.
Pure Storage’s FlashArray solution is
responsible for Mercedes-AMG Petronas
Motorsport’s improved storage infrastructure
performance, enabling it to better store,
analyse and leverage its data more
efficiently. Matt Harris, Head of IT for the
Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One
Team, speaks to us and confirms that he was
extremely happy with the Pure solution.
For this month’s ‘Country Focus’, we look
at how telecom companies in Turkey are
offering digital solutions to their customers.
Turkcell, and Russian Internet company,
Mail.ru Group, are working together in an
attempt to expand their digital footprint
on a global scale. Turkcell’s subsidiary,
www.intelligentcio.com
Lifecell Ventures, also wishes to bring a new
approach to the telecom sector.
As artificial intelligence becomes ever more
prominent within the workplace, we consider
how companies can protect their networks
with machine learning and AI.
We speak to Rabih Itani, Regional Business
Development Manager – Security, Middle East
and Turkey at Aruba, who lets us know how AI
and machine learning can positively contribute
to a company’s performance and help to
tackle security challenges on the network.
In this edition, we ‘Get To Know’ Neil
Stobart, VP of Global Systems Engineering at
Cloudian, who informs us of the ways he likes
to relax and unwind outside of the office.
He also talks about his career path which led
him into his current respected role.
I hope you enjoy this edition and if you are

For this month’s ‘CIO Opinion’, we speak to
Jim Ducharme, RSA Security’s VP of Identity
Products, who tells us what he thinks are the
top five identity trends of the year and the
business-driven risks companies should be
taking to improve the user experience.
The standard of user experience is a subject
targeted by most, if not all enterprises, as
they strive to succeed with the customer in
mind. For this month’s ‘Intelligent Vertical’,
we focus on education and how IT is
contributing. Companies are attempting to
tighten the digital skills gap and improve
the ways in which IT is utilised and thus,
universities and IT vendors are coming
together to educate and prepare people.
